5 tips for What to Wear for your High School Senior Girl Portraits –
It’s time to book your Senior Portraits - now what?
Senior picture outfits are something that many girls start planning months in advance in preparation for their photo shoot. Here are some tips to help you nail your look.
1. Choose a flowy dress for the cutest poses (flowy being the key word here)! Whether it’s a mini or maxi, make sure it has plenty of fabric so you can twirl and move around with ease. Flowy dresses aren’t just comfortable and flattering for every body type, but they also allow for SO many varieties of posing. Whether you’ll be sitting, standing, skipping, or twirling, you’ll look amazing for pretty much any adventure during your photoshoot. We especially love this style for beach photoshoots because the ocean breeze catches the fabric and creates such beautiful moments.
2. Pick at least one dressy outfit and one casual outfit. Make sure that the colors in all your outfits are a bit different from each other, otherwise you’ll look like you’re wearing the same thing during the whole shoot. It’s always fun to keep one outfit neutral and simple, and another outfit a little louder with a bold pop of color.
3. Bring accessories. Scarves, hats, sunglasses, are all great accessories for your shoot. Make sure they complement your outfit choices.
4. Plan your outfits in their entirety. This means every look should be styled head to toe including the proper shoes, undergarments, jewelry and props. Try it on at home a week before the shoot so this way you are not missing anything on the day of the shoot. Remember, everything should be clean and pressed.
5. Bring your gear! These are things that define who you are... sports equipment & team uniforms, musical instruments, artwork, trophies & medals, letterman jackets, collections such as purses & shoes, records or books, skis, cars, trucks, jeeps, pets, friends, siblings... anything that makes you YOU!
Then relax and have fun! These photos represent a wonderful time in your life and the experience of taking them should be just as fabulous as the finished product. When you plan ahead and arrive to your shoot with your outfits prepared, you’ll be confident that you look good and you’ll enjoy yourself and that will shine through in your photos.
